Art in the Park! Public Art Reception

Art (M.A.G.N.E.T.) Launch at Veterans Park

Edmonston, MD: Operation ARTS Foundation presents “Art in the Park!” a free event for the launch of their project called “Art M.A.G.N.E.T.” (Mini Art Gallery Neighborhood Entertainment Tour.) This project was inspired by the Free Little Art Gallery / Free Little Library movement which was created to be able to share art and storytelling with the community. The event will be located at the Veterans Park located at the intersection of Decatur Street And Taylor Road, Edmonston, MD, 20781. We will be cutting the tiny ribbon, hosting a meet and greet with additional activities on Saturday, October 9th from 2-4 PM. There will be a tiny art-making workshop where the community can participate in the creation of the art that goes into the installation. At these mini-galleries, Marylanders will be able to leave art, take art and share their stories on our social media Facebook, Instagram @artmagnetmd, or TikTok @operationarts. They will also be filming a documentary to cover their journey in creating this public art project, the tiny art contributions, and sharing the stories of the community. If you’re not able to make the event please stop by and participate in this ongoing project at your convenience. This project is sponsored by Maryland Milestones/ATHA Inc., PGAHC, Town of Edmonston, and Gateway Community Development Corporation, thank you so much for your contribution to bring this project to life. Let’s Art In the Park together!

Maryland Milestones

Maryland Milestones celebrates the history, culture, and natural resources within the Anacostia Trails Heritage Area. Taking our name from the Anacostia River, the region is built upon the historic trails and routes that crisscross the whole region – from rivers, to trails, to roads, to air routes. The region also extends all the way to the Patuxent River, connecting two major rivers within Maryland. The Heritage Area contains relatively intact and unspoiled historic resources that tell stories about significant aspects of American history and advances that transformed the American landscape. Since the earliest native groups, later replaced by European settlers arriving at the end of the 17th century, each successive century has seen changes that have affected not only the local landscape, but the American character as well.
